The Bill proposes wheel clamp operators can only charge a $100 maximum fee and makes it an offence for a person to charge more than the maximum fee, or to fail to remove the wheel clamp. First reading: on April 9 with all parties in agreement though National MPs expressed some doubts about how the law would work in practice and its impact. Referred to the Transport and Infrastructure Committee with an October 9 report back deadline. Reported back on Oct 1 with minor changes and the support of all parties. Second reading on Nov 5, Committee stage Nov 6 and third reading on Nov 19 all parties in support.
